Andrea Ordonez
Spanish
Andrea was born and raised in Colombia and spent half of her life in that beautiful country. She has lived in the Unites States for the past 20 years and considers this country her home now.
Andrea has been a language teacher for many years in a variety of settings. Although she has taught mostly college students, she taught at a treatment center for over two years and to high school students in France. She currently teaches college students in Utah.
Some of Andrea’s interests include hiking, gardening, spending time with friends and family and cooking. Above all she loves the weather in the valley and the beautiful mountains.
What Andrea likes the most about teaching at Stillwater Academy is the opportunity to challenge students to come out of their shells and trust in their capacity to learn a foreign language.
Andrea’s main purpose in her classroom is to foster an environment in which everyone can learn from their mistakes and that no matter the situation anyone can learn a bit of Spanish. She firmly believes that developing students’ linguistic capacity has a positive impact on their self-esteem and this in turn, will strengthen their confidence in themselves and help them to overcome any challenge in life.
